Community health centers vs. private practice clinics? I need to get up-to-date immunizations and a physical exam for my college. I have insurance, but I was wondering, is it cheaper to go to a community health center instead of private practice clinic? Is the quality of care in both types of clinics the same?
What is a community health nurse? I plan on majoring in nursing and becoming a RN getting discouraged because people tell me I'll work in a hospital, long hours, autopsies, cadavers, etc. I don't want to work in that setting. I want to work in a clinic or health center and take care of people when they get colds, flu, sick but not sure what job its called. Is it a community health nurse?

Which of these benefits of the new Health Care Reform Law do republicans object to? This year, children with pre-existing conditions can no longer be denied health insurance coverage. Once the new health insurance exchanges begin in the coming years, pre-existing condition discrimination will become a thing of the past for everyone. * This year, health care plans will allow young people to remain on their parents' insurance policy up until their 26th birthday. * This year, insurance companies will be banned from dropping people from coverage when they get sick, and they will be banned from implementing lifetime caps on coverage. This year, restrictive annual limits on coverage will be banned for certain plans. Under health insurance reform, Americans will be ensured access to the care they need. * This year, adults who are uninsured because of pre-existing conditions will have access to affordable insurance through a temporary subsidized high-risk pool. * In the next fiscal year, the bill increases funding for community health centers, so they can treat nearly double the number of patients over the next five years. * This year, we'll also establish an independent commission to advise on how best to build the health care workforce and increase the number of nurses, doctors and other professionals to meet our country's needs. Going forward, we will provide $1.5 billion in funding to support the next generation of doctors, nurses and other primary care practitioners -- on top of a $500 million investment from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Health insurance reform will also curb some of the worst insurance industry practices and strengthen consumer protections: * This year, this bill creates a new, independent appeals process that ensures consumers in new private plans have access to an effective process to appeal decisions made by their insurer. * This year, discrimination based on salary will be outlawed. New group health plans will be prohibited from establishing any eligibility rules for health care coverage that discriminate in favor of higher-wage employees. * Beginning this fiscal year, this bill provides funding to states to help establish offices of health insurance consumer assistance in order to help individuals in the process of filing complaints or appeals against insurance companies. * Starting January 1, 2011, insurers in the individual and small group market will be required to spend 80 percent of their premium dollars on medical services. Insurers in the large group market will be required to spend 85 percent of their premium dollars on medical services. Any insurers who don't meet those thresholds will be required to provide rebates to their policyholders. * Starting in 2011, this bill helps states require insurance companies to submit justification for requested premium increases. Any company with excessive or unjustified premium increases may not be able to participate in the new health insurance exchanges. Reform immediately begins to lower health care costs for American families and small businesses: * This year, small businesses that choose to offer coverage will begin to receive tax credits of up to 35 percent of premiums to help make employee coverage more affordable. * This year, new private plans will be required to provide free preventive care: no co-payments and no deductibles for preventive services. And beginning January 1, 2011, Medicare will do the same. * This year, this bill will provide help for early retirees by creating a temporary re-insurance program to help offset the costs of expensive premiums for employers and retirees age 55-64. * This year, this bill starts to close the Medicare Part D 'donut hole' by providing a $250 rebate to Medicare beneficiaries who hit the gap in prescription drug coverage. And beginning in 2011, the bill institutes a 50% discount on prescription drugs in the 'donut hole.'
are doctors who work in places like clinics/health centers just as good as ones who have private practices? if you are going to like a free clinic or a community health center to see a doctor, are those doctors just as educated and qualified as ones who have their own private practice? if so, what are the reasons the doctors work in a clinic type environment rather than their own private office? for insurance reasons, my daughter has to see her pediatrician at a health center, and not a private practice. i just want to make sure she is getting the same kind of care. we have had on appointment and so far it seemed good. i just wanted to make sure.

Private Doc. or Health Center? I have private health insurance and I was wondering which is more cost effective private doctors or community health centers? I noticed that private practices are way more expensive. Why is that? I don't have a HMO it's a HSA health plan.
NEBRASKA Dental (Health Center)? I need some MAJOR dental work done and I've thought about getting on Medicaid to help me pay for it as it will be way too expensive and I can't afford most of the work I need done right now. I've looked into going to a dentistry school/clinic as I've heard it is much cheaper than private dentists (btw does anyone have a rough estimate of how much it would cost to go to a dentistry school/clinic, i need a few root canals/crowns done..) But the one last thing people tell me about is Health Centers. What are they? I've heard sometimes they will provide free dental care to even people that need major services, i.e. root canals, crowns, etc. Or they are even cheaper than a private dentist and/or dentistry clinic/school. I've heard of 2 Health Centers in Nebraska. CHARLES DREW HEALTH CENTER and ONE WORLD COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER... Is there anyone out there who knows about these Health Centers? I would greatly appreciate any feedback on this! Thank you. I heard you get care from them regardless if you have health insurance, and they charge you based on your income and what you make, being as I have no income, I have no job, I temporarily live with parents for the moment, how will this work out? I can probably do a "down payment" kind of thing for them like $1,000.
How many centers does Head Start have today, and how many persons are served (estimated) today in 2009? How many centers does Head Start have today, and how many persons are served (estimated) today in 2009? While serving in the Office of Economic Opportunity Dr. Julius B. Richmond initiated an innovative community based program: the Neighborhood Health Centers (now known as Community Health Centers). In a short period of time, fifty such centers were operating. The program has since grown to more than 800 centers in late 2005 (but how many are there actually today?) serving a number we think is around seven million low income persons. The program is under local governance through boards made up of local citizens. This program, along with Medicare and Medicaid, had much to do with improving access to health care for the poor. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, President Lyndon Johnson presented Dr. Richmond with a distinguished service award in 1966. So (a) how many CENTERS are there and (b) how many persons do we estimate are served by Head Start?
Regarding health care, does this not make sense to you? By Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) Washington, DC — With the Senate health committee convening daily to craft a comprehensive health reform bill, the basic outline of this landmark legislation is now clear. Yes, it will ensure access to affordable, quality care for every American. But, just as important, it will hold down health care costs by creating a sharp new emphasis on disease prevention and public health. As the lead Senator in drafting the Prevention and Public Health section of the bill, I view this legislation as our opportunity to recreate America as a genuine wellness society – a society that is focused on prevention, good nutrition, fitness, and public health. The fact is, we currently do not have a health care system in the United States; we have a sick care system. If you’re sick, you get care, whether through insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP, community health centers, emergency rooms, or charity. The problem is that this is all about patching things up after people develop serious illnesses and chronic conditions. We spend a staggering $2.3 trillion annually on health care – 16.5 percent of our GDP and far more than any other country spends on health care – yet the World Health Organization ranks U.S. health care only 37th among nations, on par with Serbia. We spend twice as much per capita on health care as European countries, but we are twice as sick with chronic disease. How can this be so? The problem is that we have systematically neglected wellness and disease prevention. Currently in the United States, 95 percent of every health care dollar is spent on treating illnesses and conditions after they occur. But we spend peanuts on prevention. The good news in these dismal statistics is that, by reforming our system and focusing on fighting and preventing chronic disease, we have a huge opportunity. We can not only save hundreds of billions of dollars; we can also dramatically improve the health of the American people. Consider this: Right now, some 75 percent of health care costs are accounted for by heart disease, diabetes, prostate cancer, breast cancer, and obesity. What these five diseases and conditions have in common is that they are largely preventable and even reversible by changes in nutrition, physical activity, and lifestyle. MEGAN - No honey, I definately don't work for any medically related company. I'm one of the folks they've forgotten about since I don't have insurance anymore.
Health Care Reform Help....Questions? I'm trying to better understand the massive bill that was just passed from both points of view. This is what I know about the bill thus far ( if my facts are incorrect plz provide proof for me to read on the subject.) And for all those who strongly opposed this bill plz explain why this bill should have been killed leave the # in your answer with your details so i know what part you feel was wrong for the citizens of this country. 1. Once reform is fully implemented, over 95% of Americans will PAY to have MANDATED health insurance coverage, including 32 million who are currently uninsured but could possibly have a job in 4 years. Those that don't will go on medicare 2. Health insurance companies will no longer be allowed to deny INDIVIDUAL people coverage because of preexisting conditions—or to drop INDIVIDUAL coverage when people become sick. However, they may drop the coverage all together for everyone under that one particular group for that one particular condition. 3. Just like members of Congress, individuals and small businesses who can't afford to purchase insurance on their own will be able to pool together and choose from a variety of competing plans with lower premiums paid for with tax breaks that may not save them more money than the fine they will have to pay if they do not. 4. Reform will cut the federal budget deficit by $138 billion over the next ten years, and a whopping $1.2 trillion in the following ten years based on a theorized decline in the cost of health insurance. 5. Health care will be more affordable for families and small businesses that chose not to offer health insurance, thanks to new tax credits for INDIVIDUALS, subsidies, and other assistance—paid for largely by taxing insurance companies, drug companies, and people making over 200,000 dollars a year. These credits will be available to only the very lowest income families. Those who make less that 133% the poverty level will have to pay 3 to 4% of their yearly income to qualify. Most families will have to spend over 10% of their yearly income on medical expenses to qualify. 6. Seniors on Medicare will pay less for their prescription drugs because the legislation closes the "donut hole" gap in existing coverage by taking them off Medicare and making them pay for private insurance through the above mentioned government aid. 7. By reducing health care costs for employers but at the same time taxing them to create the so called "surplus", in theory, the reform will create or save more than 2.5 million jobs over the next decade by mostly establishing a government run and appointed branch of the executive government called the "health commission" that will oversee who, what, when, where and how procedures are covered under medicare and the aforementioned government aid is handed out. 8. Medicaid will be expanded to offer health insurance coverage to an additional 16 million low-income people who make less than minimum wage at 40 hours a week. 9. Instead of losing coverage after they leave home or graduate from college, young adults will be able to remain on their families' insurance plans until age 26 causing their parents extra financial burdens that can not be included in their tuition as is currently the case. 10. Community health centers would receive an additional $11 billion, doubling the number of patients who can be treated regardless of their insurance or ability to pay assuming they use that money for employees rather than medical supplies. If you don't have anything of value to add why do you bother commenting?
Will health care reform reach rural America? Chouinard embraces the ideal of universal health care coverage. But as she follows the debate in Washington, she says she has not heard much, if anything, about how critical rural community health centers would be impacted. "It will be interesting to see what happens if they come up with universal coverage," she said. "What will our role as a federally qualified health center be? ... How is our role defined after that?" What one senses is a conflict between idealism and rural reality; of course, she would like everyone covered, but there is a nagging sense that politicians who don't understand places like this will pass major legislation that changes the funding model for health care -- and clinics like the one here -- and yet somehow doesn't work as advertised. "I worry we will have patients here who somehow do not fall into some category and somehow slip through the cracks," is how Chouinard put it.
Why do democrats insist that republicans have not offered a plan on health care? Fact - A plan was offered but it didn't get any press or support by Nancy "do it my way or the highway" Pelosi. Here is a summary of what was offered: By the way, this took me about 30 seconds to find. http://www.neighborhoodlink.com/article/Community/Health_Care_Reform_Republican The Republican Alternative Republicans in the House of Representatives unveiled a 3-and-a-half page summary of their own health plan, without details or an estimate of costs, but emphasized that their plan would cost less than the Democratic plan. Key Provisions of the House GOP Plan States, small businesses, and others could group together to offer lower-cost, health care plans. Medicaid users could take the value of their Medicaid benefits and transfer them to a private health care plan. People, especially those in lower income brackets or over 55, would receive incentives to build up health care savings accounts. Employers would automatically sign up their workers for health insurance, so that employees would have to opt out of coverage if they didn't want it. Tax deductions on insurance premiums for people who get their plans individually or from their companies. Ideas in the House GOP Plan that Are Supported by Both Parties Dependent children can stay on their parents' policies until they are 25. Employers would be encouraged to reward employees for improved health. Community health centers could be expanded. Americans can maintain their specific health insurance policies when they lose or leave jobs. In-home care over institutional care would be encouraged with financial help. Medical malpractice lawsuits would be limited - though there are significant disagreements between the parties by how much. http://rsc.tomprice.house.gov/News/DocumentSingle.aspx?DocumentID=140115
Did you know the Republicans now have a health care reform plan? What are your thoughts? Some highlights include: Of couse limitations on malpractice lawsuits. ( got to look out for the insureance companies) "Pools" of insurance. It would let states, small businesses and others group together to offer lower-cost, health care plans. Such pools would have to offer, at a minimum, any coverage that is provided in a majority of states. Medicaid transfer. It would allow Medicaid users to take the value of their Medicaid benefits and transfer/apply those to a private health care plan instead. Boosting of health care savings accounts. It would increase incentives for people, especially those in lower income brackets or over 55, to build up HSAs. Automatic insurance. It would encourage employers to sign up their workers for health insurance automatically, so that employees would have to "opt out" of coverage if they didn't want it. This Republican alternative bill also contains several health care ideas that are increasingly championed by both parties. Longer coverage for youths. It would allow dependent children to stay on their parents' policies until they are 25. Promotion of wellness at the workplace. It would encourage employers to reward employees for improved health. Expansion of community health centers. Mobile health care. It would allow Americans to maintain their specific health insurance policies when they lose or leave jobs. In-home care. It would provide financial help and encourage more in-home care over institutions.
Health Care Reform Bill - Did your senator get any of the money flying around Washington for his/her yea vote? My senator made the list and got a "cushy deal "for our state... how did your state make out in the behind door deals going on this holiday season? Got to love the new transparency 1)Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) got an estimated $300 million in extra federal spending 2)Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI) got insurance companies in his state off the hook from a new $7 billion dollar tax 3)Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) dropped his concerns after Senator Reid offered his state a $10 billion grant for "community health centers" 4)Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) got his kickback -- a $100 million bonus for the University of Connecticut 4)Pennsylvania, New York and Florida -- all won protections for their Medicare Advantage beneficiaries at a time when the program is facing cuts nationwide. 5)Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA), chairman of the Senate health committee, got a provision inserted to increase Medicare payments to certain "low-volume hospitals" Just curious :) In PA - protected the senior vote for Specter by getting an exemption on Medicare Advantage . Specter will sell anyone out to keep his senate seat no matter who else it costs so this way he keeps Obama /Reid happy and gets the senior citizens votes in the April primary. Got to love those career politicians - they just care about the people

Does a minor have the right to mental health care even if her parents object...? And how would such a person go about getting help? Do they have the right to go to their family physician to get help or better yet a community mental health center above the objections of their parent(s)? I am asking this for a person that just asked a question on here...(I'll give them the URL to this question - so all and any help is needed...)

what would you do in this situation as a case manager? You are a case manager in a community mental health center. Many of your clients are homeless and have either mental disorders or substance abuse and health problems. Health problems in the homeless are exacerbated by their homeless status. Exposure to extreme temperatures and a lack of sanitary facilities, nutritious food, restful sleep, and support networks worsen infections and chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. The homeless are less likely to take their medications for their mental and other physical diseases. Most homeless do not seek health care until they are so sick or injured that they have to be transported to the emergency room by ambulance. Although there is a community health center in the county, it is not accessible financially or geographically to the homeless. After determining the needs of the homeless population in your case load, you meet with the leaders of all the agencies that provide services to the homeless, including the health center. You learn that there are three shelters, one food bank, and two faith-based initiatives providing services to the homeless. A collaborative decision is made to provide basic health services in the shelters. The health center will supply the clinical providers, supplies, and equipment; the shelters will provide the space, furniture, and utilities; and the mental health center will provide on-site case management that includes counseling and support groups.
• What other options would this mother have? You are employed as an Outreach Youth Worker at the local Community Health Centre. A young man has been a regular client now for six months. He spends some time “couch surfing” among his friends and a lot of time sleeping rough on the streets and sometimes at his mother’s house. You have received a complaint from his mother that your client has been taking money from her purse and pawning some of her jewellery. She claims to have found some receipts from the Cash Converters in his room and is now asking for your help in moving him out of her house.
Which Health Insurance is Better? I only have two options of health insurance that I can afford: 1) NHPGreen Select $139/mo. with limited providers. There are only 2 PCP around where I live, and both of them are far and in dangerous side of the city at a sketchy looking community health center. But the positive side is the plan has a lot of things that are not subject to the deductible. Also cheaper co-payments for PCP office visit ($25) and prescription ($30). 2) Harvard Pilgrim $149/mo. The positive side of this plan is it has a wide selection of PCP and other providers, and there's one well-known doctor that accept this plan just 2-minute walk from my apartment. The downside of this plan is a lot of things are subject to deductible. For example: medical visit is $25 for the first 3 visits, and after that subject to deductible and then 20% coinsurance, prescription is 50% coinsurance. Which one should I choose? I'm only 25 so I'm pretty healthy, but once in a while I do need to visit a physician for recurring vertigo symptoms. I cannot really afford better health insurance because I'm a full time college student and I can't work because I'm an international student (no work permit).

Any leads for finding a psychiatrist who will work on a sliding scale? Specifically in the Los Angeles area, but more likely, any directories or databases. I don't have mental health coverage and I've been 'rejected' by community mental health centers on the basis that I have a job. Unfortunately, I don't have a job that allows me to pay $200/hr for private psychiatry...
Determining levels of prevention? Can someone please help? Determining levels of prevention? analyze the scenarios and describe the level of prevention is primary prevention, secondary prevention, or tertiary prevention. Do you think the prevention strategy used in the scenario was effective? If not what would you do differently? Scenario 1: Violence Prevention in a High Risk Community Karyn, a social services worker, is confronted daily with issues such as homicide, suicide, child and elder abuse, battered women, sexual assault, and domestic violence in the community agency in which she works. Her job responsibilities are to build community and agency coalitions to help meet the needs of the community. One day, an enraged young man stormed into the agency demanding to know the whereabouts of his wife, whom he had ordered not to leave the house. The wife was cowering in Karyn’s office after being referred by her physician for suspicious bruises. The agency has a procedure for handling potentially violent situations such as this one, in addition to providing a panic button. Someone pushed the panic button behind the receptionist’s desk, which brought the police within minutes. The wife was later transported to a shelter for battered women. The shelter provides classes in self-esteem, parenting, and job training and placement. It also assists clients with access to eligible welfare benefits and housing. Scenario 2: Closure of a Planned Parenthood Clinic You are a social worker in your community’s county public health office. Of the 60,000 people living in your county, 12,000 are women of childbearing age. The teen pregnancy rate is above the national average. Twenty-five to 30 percent of the county’s births are unintended. With an annual per capita income of just over $13,000, most of the population lives below the poverty level. At your weekly team meeting, your manager announces that the Planned Parenthood Clinic in the county is closing due to lack of funding. Other county family-planning providers have waiting lists and cannot take new patients. Team consensus is that lack of accessible and affordable family planning services will lead to more unintended pregnancies, child abuse, and poverty. You organize a group of other health and human service providers in the county to solve the issue. After much discussion, the public health office decides to offer limited family planning services. Scenario 3: Homeless Health Care You are a case manager in a community mental health center. How much is too much to tell your psychiatrist? He is thru a 'community mental health center' with a case overload. I feel like just a # & regret some things i shared. I cant shake this. It will always haunt me. How can i get rid of the continuous "regret" state of mind?
muslims How to Make America an Islamic Nation ? Congress just passed a bill declaring the consumption of alcohol a felony, punishable by up to 120 days in jail. Although critics said the new law wouldn't work anymore than Prohibition did in the 1920's, supporters of the measure felt confident that it would hold, given the large support from the Muslim America community. Even now, many Islamic organizations are setting up alcohol treatment centers and prevention programs designed to help people kick the dangerous habit. The president, a staunch supporter of moral values, is expected to sign the new bill into law when reaches his desk. Sound like fiction? It may be fiction now, but the future is like a book of blank, white pages; anything can happen. When I accepted Islam and surrendered my heart to Allah's will, I didn't do it for economic or social reasons. In fact, I suffered in those two areas because of my conversion. Rather, it was a choice on my part to reform my soul, my mind and my understanding of why I was alive and why I would die one day. I didn't think about living in some town for a few years and making my fortune so my kids could go to Ivy league schools. I wasn't thinking about how to get all my relative a green card nor was I planning to leave and go back home to some far land after my bank account was full enough. I was born and raised here. This is my land. I'll raise my children here, Insha'allah and probably be buried here as well. I knew that by accepting Islam I was declaring that America needed to do so too. America, my home, would naturally become an Islamic country one day. There is no other way to think if you are a truly conscientious believer in Allah. In past columns, I have raised complaints or alarm bells at the state of some segment of the Muslim community. Now I'm going to offer three suggestions for how we can turn the situation around and become the dominant social and cultural force in a country that needs Islam more than another pop-star, beer-brand or psychic network. First, we must be reminded of a simple truth: if you believe in Allah, then you must be more than just a praying Muslim; more than just a fasting Muslim. A Christian can go to the masjid and pray side-by-side with us all he wants; a Jew can fast in Ramadan for forty years, but if such a person doesn't surrender their will to Allah, then all those activities won't mean much. Belief in Allah is what makes those actions have merit on Judgment Day. In the same way, why should we see a praying and fasting Muslim and automatically assume he or she is a true believer? The blessed Prophet once observed that many are the people who fast but who get nothing from it but hunger and thirst. In a similar vein, Allah said that people who pray for show are those who deny the deen. The intention, the belief, that's what makes our Islam real. That's what builds a foundation for the future of our community here. Secondly, what's more important than what people see us doing in the masjid, is what they see us doing outside in the society. If people view us as foreigners, it's not because everybody is an evil racist. It's because sometimes we're presenting ourselves that way. We have to look at ourselves with a critical eye! As a quick note, lest multitudes write and complain: The vast majority of Muslims here have chosen to live in non-Muslim neighborhoods; have chosen to live far from the masjid, have chosen to turn their children into neo-kuffar by letting them be indoctrinated by the public school system and have chosen to have non-Muslims as the primary people they come into contact with. If you choose not to actively practice Islam in your daily life, if you choose not to build and Islamic community, then don't display yourself as an ethnic model and say this is what a Muslim should be. This leads me to the third factor which will help our faith prosper and grow here. The essential, unifying force we must have is a solid, homogenous community. We must live together. All those people who cry about ghettoizing ourselves need to wake up. Why do the Orthodox Jews live together? Why do the Amish live together? Why do the Mormons, the Sikhs, the survivalists and the Koreans live together? Quite simply, to preserve the unique way of life from the scrourge of assimilation. Are they ghettoized? No. Are they poor? No. Their communities tend to be healthier, safer and more prosperous than the general melting pot. How many Muslims have been lost to Islam in the last fifty years here? Tens of thousands have been lost. The only reason Islam is still growing here, by large, is because of a steady stream of immigration. But when that dries up, the assimilation will dwindle our community down to nothing. It's like we have a bucket with a hole in the bottom. We keep pouring new immigrants in, but so many are leaking out are lost forever. (And we're hardly making concerted or intelligent efforts at bringing others to the faith.) I used to have contact with a unique community in the heart of Detroit, Michigan. It was originally settled by Yemeni immigrants about ten years ago. Those Muslims could have gone the way of others and lost their Iman. But as you'll see, something quite different occurred. I still remember my first visit to the area fondly. I was attending a meeting of the newly-formed local ICNA group and had never been exposed to the place before. What I saw amazed me. I was elated, in fact! Children were saying salaams to me on the street and women (in hijab) were walking around and going places leisurely and confidently. I saw Muslims who were Arab, Black and Bengali. But what took the cake for me was when out of nowhere I heard the adhan outdoors over a loudspeaker. They fought the city council and won the right to do adhan five times a day in the community! Something clicked in the minds of these people. The Yemenis formed a master plan and determined to stay together. They set up a fund and slowly bought one house after another, moving Muslim families in and drug-infested kafirs out, until they literally had thousands of Muslims businesses and stores in the heart of the community and bought a huge Catholic church and made it into a beautiful masjid. They even made a small community health care center! When we were leaving our meeting and walking to the masjid for salat, it was the most beautiful sight: from all directions, men, women and children, of all races, were going to their masjid as a community. I've never been to Muslim country before, but I'll tell you this much, I felt as if I were in an Islamic country. And this wasn't Egypt or India or Turkey. It was right here - in America.
Repeater system for pagers? I work at Shasta Community Health Center. We have a main clinic and 3 satellite clinics in other nearby towns. They just built a new building up in Shasta Lake City. Metal walls, metal studs, metal roof. The signals for the pagers are not getting through, so doctors are not getting important pages. There is signal in the area though, if you walk outside of the building, you have a signal. So, they are planning on putting up a pager repeater system at the building. Here is where I need help though. They are looking at two systems, the company is recommending a 500 W transmitter, but there is also a 250 W transmitter. The pagers operate on the 900 MHz band. The building is about 70 feet by 140 feet. They want to know if we really need the 500 W or if the 250 W would do the job. Any help is appreciated. Someone found out that I was an amateur radio operator so they came to me for help. Great... Anyway, thanks in advance guys. D. Michael Johnston - KG6RPI Here is the site with the ones they are looking at. That huge amount of power didn't make sense to me either, I can hit UHF repeaters with my hand held on 6 W that are miles away... http://www.gtesinc.com/products/rf.shtml They are trying to get the signal to the pagers inside the building.
Is Citi and the Citi Foundation out of their minds by presenting a grant to LA RAZA...? when people have been calling them "racists" and "advocates of Illegal immigration"? or do they really know the truth about LA RAZA? What do you think? http://www.nclr.org/content/news/detail/54169 CITI AND THE CITI FOUNDATION AWARD $1,000,000 TO THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF LA RAZA Washington, DC– Citi and the Citi Foundation presented a $1,000,000 grant to the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) in support of its efforts to build the capacity of its almost 300 affiliates across the country working at the state and local level. These affiliates help advance opportunities for individuals and families through the asset building, housing and community development programs. "Citi and NCLR continue to be successful partners in transforming the lives of Latino families and communities across the country. Our support of the Raza Development fund in previous years to fund the growth of their community development facility and our current support of their capacity building efforts and pre-development grants to build housing, charter schools and community health centers is at the center of our partnership to build and support healthy communities across the country,” said Salvador Villar, Chairman & CEO, Citibank (Banamex USA). “Our strong partnership with NCLR, the leading Latino civil rights organization in the country, is based on mutual trust and a deep commitment to making communities better." Through the Citi Foundation’s support, NCLR has assisted over 8,000 low- to moderate-income individuals in the first half of 2008. "The Citi grant helps NCLR and its affiliates increase the impact of education, health, and housing initiatives throughout the nation. Citi’s investment also allowed NCLR to develop innovative ways to leverage other resources at its disposal to increase the impact of local projects. We firmly believe that by working together with Citi we can improve the quality and quantity of asset-building programs as well as deepen the impact of strategic community development initiatives targeted to the Hispanic community," said Janet Murguia, President & CEO, NCLR.

Happy voting. I had forgot to mention that Palin's mayor and governer positions are part-time legislative positions. Jan- I only brought it up because of the republican argument that Palin is more experienced than Obama. I agree the comparison should be made between McCain and Obama, not Obama and Palin. I'm simply debunking the myths that are coming from your party. Thanks for contributing. Jan- also she wasnt mayor for 10 years- she was mayor for 6 years...part time. You might want to check up on your facts. Jan- also, her experience as a mayor was for a city with a population of 6700 people. There are more children in a single chicago public school district than in the whole town that she governed. School superintendents have to balance budgets and enforce rules as well. Does a chicago school superintendent, with the same responsibilities as a mayor of alaska, then qualify to be vice president since he also handles a larger population?
How big a part do illegals play into California is going to Washington, D.C., to ask for $7 billion ? California is going to Washington, D.C., to ask for $7 billion to cover its budget shortfall. Otherwise it won't be able to pay for its teachers, cops, firemen, and other essential services. Unfortunately, California won't be alone. A number of other states are experiencing a huge dive in tax revenue and could be going cap in hand to Uncle Sam alarmingly soon. How bad could it get? The potential cost for all the 31 states facing both major and minor shortfalls could be as much as $53.4 billion. The data is based on a study by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities released at the end of September and shows the states that have seen the biggest shortfalls in tax revenue in their fiscal 2009 budgets. California Budget gap (as a % of the total budget): 22% Gap: $22.2 billion Arizona Budget gap (as a % of the total budget): 19.9% Gap: $2 billion Arizona was hit hard by the subprime crisis, and its economy has slowed significantly since mid-2006. Lawmakers, who had to make up a $2 billion budget shortfall for fiscal 2009, reduced the Medicaid rolls, put a freeze on hiring, and cut funding for community health centers and state universities. Florida Budget gap (as a % of the total budget): 19.9% Gap: $5.1 billion The Florida housing slump is one of the worst in the nation and only appears to be getting worse. The $66 billion Florida budget for the coming year is about $6 billion less than the one approved the previous year. It includes a $332 million reduction in public school spending and cuts to state hospitals, nursing homes, and various social programs.Nevada Budget gap (as a % of the total budget): 16% Gap: $1.2 billion Nevada has the worst foreclosure rate in the nation, and its economy has slowed dramatically this year. The governor capped the state's children's health program and increased children's health-care premiums, and cut funding for K-12 education, higher education, and welfare.Since these states have high populations of illegals, how big of an impact are illegals causing to their budgets http://finance.yahoo.com/loans/article/105909/States-That-Can't-Pay-for-Themselves
I have an adnexal mass (tumor attached to the ovary) and no insurance in Florida? I need a biopsy and possibly surgery. I have been out of work for a year with no insurance I bareIy get enough money to pay the rent and buy food. I have tried ever possible resource that I have found on the internet. American Cancer Society, National Cancer Institute, etc and they give me numbers of hospitals and centers that cannot help me. I have called all the area hospitals and have inquired about charity care or indigent care programs, they have none. I have gotten referred to local government health centers, all of whom say they have no money for my cause. I do not qualify for medicaid and have no money for insurance or for doctors. I already have had a CT scan , ultrasound and blood work that I managed to get for free from a local community health center in West Pasco Florida, and I was told that there was nothing more that they could do for me. They told to either borrow money or ask my church for help. They pretty much left me hanging with no place to go. I do have pain, but nothing really bad and nothing that I could go to an emergency room for. Where can I turn?? Anyone have any suggestions??? I need to get this checked out before it gets any bigger. It is up to 5cm, and they said it was suspicious for ovarian neoplasm (Cancer).
Does anyone know where I can apply for a psychology job with just a B.A. in Clinical/Counseling Psychology? I received a B.A. degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology and I'm looking for employment that is more related to psychology. I currently work part time at a bank and I'm very dissatisfied with the work because I'm not interested in it and I feel as if it is not remotely related to what I'm trying to accomplish in my career. I realize that I cannot interact directly with clients, counsel individuals, or do any type of psychological testing without lisensure or certification. I currently have a year left before I complete my Master's degree. Maybe someone knows an agency or a community health center that would hire someone with a BA in psychology to assist with research or clerical duties. Maybe a psychologist is in need of a personal assistant. Does anyone know any psychological agencies, mental health centers, or companies that will hire someone with a BA in psychology? Thanks!

Do the following look like they should be in a "Stimulus Bill"? The Democrats are working on a Stimulus Bill as we all know. While taking very little input from the GOP, Obama, Pelosi and Reid are going their own way with this one. Which is fine I suppose BUT.... Do YOU know what is in this so called Stimulus Bill that is suppose to help this nation in a poor economy. Please note that Obama was quoted as saying "Nothing on here looks outlandish or crazy to me" Why dont you look at some thing in the bill for yourself. And while I am sure some of you are _____ enough to defend this but anyone, even a third grader, can see that this is the dumbest thing ive seen in a while. I will literally go insane if this bill passes with garbage like this in it. This bill is suppose to STIMULATE the economy. Instead the Dems are using this to put pork in to and work on re-election. None of these things should be in this bill. Think about the fact that YOU, YOUR FAMILY, and YOUR KIDS will have to pay for all this some day. This is a joke and if this is all they can come up with to help out our economy than we are in for a world of hurt for the next 4 years. It is going to get very, very bad here unless all of you call your Congressmen/Senators and tell them NOT to pass this ridiculous bill. --Undisclosed amount for contraceptives -- $650 million to help Americans upgrade to digital cable after the official transition to digital television on Feb. 17, 2009. -- $44 million to repair and improve the headquarters of the Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. -- $276 million to upgrade and modernize information technology at the State Department. -- $3.1 billion to fund “infrastructure projects” on federal land, including $1.8 billion for the National Park Service, $650 million for the U.S. Forest Service, and $300 million for the National Fish Hatcheries. -- $600 million for NASA, including $400 million for projects such as “satellite sensors that measure solar radiation critical to understanding climate change.” -- $1.9 billion for the Department of Energy for “basic research into the physical sciences,” including nuclear physics and fusion energy. -- $209 million for maintenance work at the federal Agricultural Research Service’s research facilities across the country. -- $400 million in repairs to various “national treasures,” including $200 million for revitalizing the National Mall, $150 for maintenance at the Smithsonian Institution, and $50 million to make up for a lack of philanthropic support for the arts. -- $850 million for “wildland fire management,” including $550 million to states for “volunteer fire assistance,” “city forest enhancements” and “wood to energy” projects. -- $400 million for “habitat restoration” projects to be doled out by the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration. -- $2.7 billion for “rural water and waste disposal” grant programs for providing loans for digging wells or extending municipal water services in rural areas. -- $2 billion to provide day care services to 300,000 additional low-income children, ostensibly while their parents are at work. -- $1.2 billion to create an estimated 1 million summer jobs for young people. -- $2.5 billion to upgrade government-owned housing projects with new insulation, windows, and furnaces. -- $6.2 billion to weatherize the homes of low-income people to make them more energy efficient. -- $2.4 billion for projects demonstrating carbon-capture technology. -- $600 million to “prepare our country for universal healthcare” by training more doctors, dentists, and nurses. -- $1.5 billion to build new “Community Health Centers.” -- $20 billion to provide “nutrition assistance” for middle-income families and to lift restrictions on how long people can receive food stamps. -- An undisclosed amount to “provide 100 percent federal funding through 2010 for optional State Medicaid coverage of individuals (and their dependents) who are receiving unemployment benefits or have exhausted those benefits.”

Are they are violating federal law ? Two national civil rights organizations are criticizing Collin County commissioners for prohibiting nonprofit clinics from treating illegal immigrants with county funds. Officials with the League of United Latin American Citizens and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund say they think commissioners are violating federal privacy and health care laws. "There's no constitutional basis to limit these kinds of programs to U.S. citizens," said Nina Perales, regional counsel for MALDEF in San Antonio. Commissioners maintain they can legally ask nonprofit clinics that receive county grants to report each patient's name, age, address, medical diagnosis and the last four digits of his or her Social Security number. "To me, it's not a racial situation," Commissioner Jerry Hoagland said. "It's an economic situation. If you don't want to abide by the rules, don't take the money." Several clinics have complained about the new reporting requirements, saying the policy forces them to violate patient confidentiality laws and play the role of immigration officer. Clinics can still treat illegal immigrants, as long as they use other funds, commissioners have stressed. The county is not seeking personal information on patients treated with other funds. One clinic, Children and Community Health Center of McKinney, has said it will reject its $30,000 grant rather than comply with the reporting requirements. Another, Frisco Cares Children's Clinic, says it may refuse its $11,000 grant. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/city/collin/stories/DN-outcry_07cco.ART.West.Edition1.3762b2a.html
Do you think that ...? Do you think it would be a good idea to have "allergy testing days" at a hospital or community health center where parents who are concerned about severe allergens that may cause a life threatening reaction can go and test them out in a safe environment. I know I'm all about allergic reactions today but just something I've been thinking about. Do you think it would work? why or why not?
goals and objectives? i am doing a project for my health literacy class and need help coming up with some goals and objectives about our project. our project was going to a community health center in an elementary school and teaching kids about body parts and we made up 2 worksheets, one was to color body parts different colors and to explain what each body part does and another was a word search, a variation of the word search instead of words to find, there were pictures of body parts or arrows pointing to specific body parts on a boy or girl and the students had to write the body part in the appropriate space provided and then find the word in the word search. what are some goals and objectives that i can include in my paper? any help would be greatly appreciated ... thanks!
Can someone look over my research paper? Just look over my format and citing and let me know what i should change. Any advice would be appreciated Due to the everchanging, fast- paced world we live in, counseling is becoming a routine activity in people's lives. Counselors are trusted individuals that help people though rough times or experiences. Everyone has experience in some kind of counseling whether it be professional, talking to a friend, or talking problems over with yourself. Counseling is an important technique used to help people function better in society and handle life's everyday problems. “Counseling is a voluntary, confidential process whereby clients talk to a counselor in many different incarnations in many different locations to seek out help for problems they are experiencing. The counselors can be found in all school levels, on college campuses, in hospitals, in private practice, and in the military. This list just illustrates a small section of where help is availible. Specifically, counselors are in high schools and on college campuses (Nugent, Frank A., and Karyn J. Dayle screen 1).” High school counselors help students in both group therapy and individual attention. They also help with classroom guidance as well as career planning. Adam Mitchell states that having counselors available and accessible to students makes those who seek help a resource to obtain it. He goes on to say it is much easier to help students and to notice changes if you see them often. He exemplifies this by saying if a student was not seeking out a counselor on their own, they might not get the help they need, wheras by seeing the students regularly one can hope the counselor would be able to solve any issues a student may be dealing with (Mitchell, Adam screen 1). In colleges, counselors deal with more normal developmental issues as well as possibly a higher median age, taking into consideration that many adult go back to school later in life. College posseses a great range of student from ages, races, parents and children alike and therefore is probably the most diverse. Although these issues are more normal developmental issues, budget and time constraints only allow a counselor to see a client for a few sessions (Mitchell, Adam screen 1). He goes on to state that during this time the counselor will need to make a decision as to if the patient will need further assistane out of the college by seeing another therapist at a different agency. This type of short term counseling is seen in many if not all colleges. Sandhills Community College displays this with an advisor program that students must meet with to choose classes. This school also supplies students with a career counseling building which can be beneficial in both choosing careers, finding jobs and choosing schools and majors. True, high school and college may be the most important types of counseling due to the focus on youth in any society, but there are other forms that take a backburner to these mainstream types. Some of the most recent trends in counseling revolve around business and industry, community care centers, pastoral counseling centers, comprehensive community health centers and neighborhood clinics ( Aron, Ben screen 1). In addition to this, through researching this topic it is true that the internet is becoming a major movement in counseling. More information is available online; symptoms can be obtained, as well as counselors, and clinics. Due to advances in technology sessions can even be held online via webcam. These modernized traits of counseling only show interpersonal psychotherapy effectiveness in all aspects of life (Bateson, Jason screen 1). Businesses have integrated counseling into the workplace to deal with issues that may threaten there employees or hinder their performance. These programs help employees with issues they may have at home and work professionally and personally (Bateson, Jason screen 1). Relationship counseling is another basic type of therapy. Relationship problems may not occur often, but do occur in every relationship. Sometimes the difference between spouses and couples just takes a meeting of the minds guided by a therapist. Other incidents involve relationship building exercises and a series of conversations for partners in a relationship to reach an understanding. Counseling on the light side can consist of creating bright futures for young students or helping an employee reach his full potential in sales. However, there are more serious problems that occur that require more attention in counseling. Areas such as grievances and depression come to mind when counseling is thought of. Counseling for grievances varies by person to person and try to help people come back and function as normal as possible. Depression and relationships are more areas that come to mind when counseling is required. Depression occuring from dramatic situations or unpleasent childhoods can really cause problems in an individuals life. Things of this n
goals and objectives? i am doing a project for my health literacy class and need help coming up with some goals and objectives about our project. our project was going to a community health center in an elementary school and teaching kids about body parts and we made up 2 worksheets, one was to color body parts different colors and to explain what each body part does and another was a word search, a variation of the word search instead of words to find, there were pictures of body parts or arrows pointing to specific body parts on a boy or girl and the students had to write the body part in the appropriate space provided and then find the word in the word search. what are some goals and objectives that i can include in my paper? any help would be greatly appreciated ... thanks!
Which side do you symphatize more with? Neo-nazis and klan members or American communists? IF IT HAD TO BE ONE GROUP, WHICH WOULD IT BE? Back in 1979, the Communist Worker's Party of America was having an anti-racism rally. The American Nazi Party and KKK joined forces and massacred 5 unarmed communists and injured several more. This was called the Greensboro Massacre. None of the perpetrators were punished. The five killed were: - Sandy Smith, a nurse and civil rights activist; - Dr. James Waller, president of a local textile workers union who gave up his medical practice to defend workers; - Bill Sampson, a Harvard University graduate in the school of divinity; - Cesar Cause, an immigrant from Cuba who graduated magna cum laude from Duke University; and - Dr. Michael Nathan, chief of pediatrics at Lincoln Community Health Center in Durham, NC, a clinic that helped children from low-income families. http://www.greensborotrc.org/ The communists in America were largely harmless. The neo-nazis and klan members of America, on the other hand, have killed hundreds if not thousands of people over the years. Silent Actually, they were unarmed. In order to get a permit for their protest, they had to give up their guns. GOPneeds, Communists are against racism. They believe in equal rights. You don't believe in that? If you look into it, you will find communist groups supported civil rights during the 1960s. Alot of COPOUT answers. I asked if you HAD TO CHOOSE. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU PEOPLE. These communists were practicing their American right to protest. For that, they were killed! This could have been your son or daugther! How can you not sympathize with them over the neo-nazis and klan members who killed them? Even if you disagree with their ideology, they were working against poverty and racism. They were trying to do some good and they got killed because of it.
Is it safe to take 1-2yrs old fluoxetine(Prozac)? I'm in the process of getting in to the local community health center, normal one's wait is 6 months, new side center's wait is 2 weeks. So it's going to be a couple weeks before I can get in and that's just to get me a card to see how much I have to pay. I don't even know how long till I can see a Dr and get a Rx. Anyway, I have a seriously stressful job (working in a therapuetic treatment facility for 10-18yr old boys) where I'm completely disrespected and treated like dirt all day. I'm looking for a new job, but in the meantime I need something to pick me up and I have old generic prozac from a few years ago. No I can not wait till my appt, I need something now but I don't have much money(hence community health center). So is it safe to take those old pills? I probably will anyway because I seriously just need SOMETHING but what am I looking at for side effects from old pills? Any help or info on this is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Well in that case, what are some fast acting antidepressants that I can take? Are there any that work very fast? They would also have to be cheap, as in the under $4 prescriptions at Wal-Mart. I don't know what else to do because I really need something being done right away.
Chances of cancer from certain types of HPV! Need Advice Please!? I was diagnosed with HPV a couple of years ago. It didn't go away. Although it did not cause genital warts (THANK GOD!) it is considered high-risk. My doc wants me to get a colposcopy done every 6 months. Doc also said that if I would like to have more children then I need to within the next 4-5 years as getting all these test done will make it difficult to have children in the future. I am 24 years old. I work a full time job and support one child. I do not have insurance and I do not qualify for medicaid (I've tried). I'm pretty stretched the max as far as income goes so getting these test run is very difficult for me. So far the cheapest place I can get it done is $200 each time, up front. That is at a community health center with a sliding scale for lower income families. I'm really worried I'll get cancer and we'll find out too late to treat it successfully. Is waiting once a year too long? That's really all I can afford to do right now. Its getting time for my annual pap-smear anyway. I go to my local county health department for that. ( I wish I could go to a private office) I don't care for the way I'm treated at the health dept. The doctor there last year brought me to tears when he said that I wasn't taking this seriously enough and that if they were equipped to treat it there he would have already treated me for cancer. But when I finally made it to get the biopsy done that doc said I was in the clear for now. Treatment wasn't necessary. I don't know what to do, and I'm a little scared for my life here. I don't want to miss out on my son's life, or the chance to have one more later. What is your take on the situation.
what are my chances of getting into Barnard College, BU, Northeastern & Holy Cross with a 3.7 unweighted gpa? I participate in a myriad of extracurricular activities such as National Honor Society, Science League, College Bowl, Mock Trial Program, Yearbook Committee, Rachel's Challenge, Newspaper Club as well as Volleyball for two years, Soccer for two years, and Track for 3 years. I was also given an award for being the National Finalist for Excellence in Youth Advocacy Award and given a citation by the mayor of Lynn....I am planning on sending as a supplement material to my application a copy of this award and citation. p.s. I promised myself I wouldn't ask questions like these...but I had to know what anybody else thought.. also, my CRITICAL READING was 440, MATH was 570, and my WRITING was 550; this was after taking the SAT twice, I took it again in December and am waiting to for my score.. Thanks for reading this and any answer would numb down my worries!
I cut my hand 3 weeks ago, went to emergency at the nearest hospital, got my bill yesterday for $ 1098.00 and? the problem is that I got not insurance. Now, I am filling out this financial form in order to get a discount and one of the section of this form asks me if I have ever applied for Medicaid and here is were my question pops up: I went to this community health center 1 year ago to get my freckles checked and I remember I filled out a registration form and showed check stubs and so on and now I wonder if that is what the hospital is asking me about. Must I say that yes, I applied for Medicaid? My doubt is because I do not have any Medicaid card or anything that says I qualified for it. I was seen that day, got a bill 1 month later and that's it. Can someone help me clarify this please?

Dont have maternity care by Dr.'s too expensive, what to do??? So I've been reading a ton of answers to my other Q and thanks so much they're very helpful (you agree with me not my hubby LOL) but I have one other HUGE prob. My daughter is under state insurance but me and my hubby dont qualify becuase the two of us make too much money for us to be under her coverage. My parents have me under their insurance still because as long as I'm in school at least part time, married or not, it will cover me. My hubby dosnt have any because his dad owns a small business that he works for but his dad dosnt get insurance. So my prob. is that my mom's insurance for me dosnt cover maternity care, and when I was preggo with my daughter I had to go to the community health center and all of that nonsense. We aren't some of those people that like to take hand outs (my MIL was furious that I refused to get WIC when I HAVE the money to buy my daughter her formula). I dont like to take advantage so why if I can pay would I look for hand outs? Anyways, the Dr. that handled me at the community place has his own reg. practice too but I honestly cant afford to pay out of pocket for maternity care. I hate the way the people look at you when you sign up for the free care (like you are some knocked up *hore) Which I'm not. Is it ok for me to get preggo if I cant pay out of pocket for Dr. and have to go through the state for care? I can take care of my kids, I dont mean get assistance for my daughter or any other kids I may eventually have, I am just talking about maternity care? WHat do you think? Im NOT preggo now, my daughter is 9 months old, and I an consider getting preggo again after this summer. Paying for forumla is alot different then having a years worth of Dr.'s visits and then all the workings of a csection. I had to have an emergancy section with my now 9 month old daughter and I probably will have to have another one whenever I do have another kid. Just to reiterate I'm NOT preggo now. I am thinking about getting pregoo again in 6-8months. If I got preggo again I'd qualify, any woman in NJ qualifies as long as they are already preggo. But to get 100% of the time insurance for married couples under thier child w/ NJ kid care then you have to make like less then $1000 a month. SO no we can't get like dental and such. I get that with my mom but just not maternity. And yeah we have money for our house and food and clothes but no we dont have money for csections and anesthsia ect.
please set aside all prejudices.. about becoming an actress...help!? it's a bit discouraging reading all those answers to questions similar to mine now, but i really am different from those whose dream of becoming an actress is just a passing fad. as early as 12 years old i already knew that this is what i wanted, i just cant be happier and gosh, the adrenaline rush that i always experience when we shoot project videos or do school plays ever since just tells me that this is what i am for. i watch movies not only to be entertained but primarily to be educated about what is good and bad acting and what kind of scenes work and not. when i was 16 and was applying for universities, i always discussed with my parents the idea of taking up theater arts. they just wouldn't hear of it. i am currently taking up a bachelor of science degree in nursing because they always wanted me to be in the medical field. i took this particular path because i know that this is one of the best ways to get myself in the united states (hopefully in new york or los angeles) where i can be totally independent and pursue my dreams of becoming an actress. i am actually going to be a year delayed for graduation because i left school when i suffered clinical depression more than a year ago of which one of its causes was my big frustration over not becoming a theater student. now that i've recovered, it still doesnt mean that im going to throw all my dreams away and just stay stuck with what i have now. yeah, im studying hard and doing real good at my hospital school and community health center shifts, but im back to reading lots of acting related books, practicing by myself and watching scenes from different movies over and over. i dont like movies because theyre top grossers, i love movies that are really brilliant because of their substance and the showcase of amazing talent. now, i'm 19 and am very, very happy that i'll be joining my university's theater organization (as a matter of fact, the oldest one in the philippines) this year. i hope this does not sound like a crazy obsession to you but seriously anybody who knows how to really want and be swayed many times from an ambition will understand. and now, that i've already pulled myself together, i replanned, and i incorporated my acting plans in my "gameplan". that is, finish college (that will be in more or less 2 years from now), go to the u.s. work as a nurse two jobs at a time, save up for acting classes and get started. by the way i'm not american (which will surely make things harder than they already are), im asian (filipina with spanish roots from my maternal side) but i know how to speak english fluently. im not goddess-like beautiful but im also not an ugly hag either. i really dont know if i fall in the pretty category. not skinny, not fat, just right. im 5'1 (yeah i know that's short) but i am certain that i have immense talent for this kind of job. if you're going to ask me "then if you really like acting why don't you try your local film and tv business?" this is my answer: the philippines's entertainment business is nothing but crap. face value and sex appeal is what they find important, not talent. it's all about whom you're related to, how you look like and how modelesque you look. it will be a feather to your cap if you have foreign blood in your veins. that's crap. and as for storylines, i dont wanna sound really b*tchy but it's always the same. anybody who really appreciates movies and tv series and everything in between will really get bored here, what with all those very predictable finales, with all those predictable lines(!), all those oversold looks and poorly directed and acted scenes. well i cannot fully blame them, they have the stupid Filipino masses who love cliches to entertain and get lots and lots of money from. but it's not always the case i have the indie movie industry to thanks for. but you know, i dont wanna act without getting at least any penny in return. i am passionate about acting but i dont want to starve either. wow, that was a mouthful i just said. now, here's my question (or plea for help). how do i start..? any tip or piece of advice will be greatly appreciated. thanks guys, and i hope you don't put in unsolicited and rude comments. =) May God bless you..! =) oh my god, i didnt know i had that lot of typographical errors... sorry! =)
Do I have epilepsy? Hi my name is Brett, i'm twenty one years old and I think I might have epilepsy. Since I was a teenager on random occasions I get a very over whelming feeling, I start to sweat, my eyes go foggy, I cant talk and I start to feel this awkward deja vu feeling that I don't understand because I will be somewhere I've never been before when I get these episodes. I feel like I've been in that same place before. It makes me feel sick. I don't know why. People think I am crazy when I try to explain it to them but its the only way I know how. I have had a seizure before when I was sixteen. doctors couldn't tell me why. I get these episodes out of no where at anytime! Sometimes certain smells trigger it, sounds, places, anything. I'll be leaning over my sink washing dishes and feel this deja vu feeling for no reason at all. Sometimes it makes me sick, I'll vomit. It happens when I am driving and I haft to pull over. It last just about a minute or so and then I'm left with a really gross feeling in my body and sometimes a headache. I feel I don't know what is wrong with me but to whom ever is reading this could you please let me know if you think this might be a type of epilepsy? I don't have any medical insurance and will only be able to see a M.D at a community health center in two weeks! PLEASE
If you had to choose between American communists or KKK/nazi members who would you choose and why? AMERICAN LEFT-WING COMMUNISTS VERSUS THE RIGHT-WING AMERICAN NAZI PARTY AND KKK The Greensboro massacre occurred on November 3, 1979 in Greensboro, North Carolina, United States. It was the culmination of attempts by the Maoist Communist Workers Party (CWP) to organize industrial workers, predominantly black, in the area. Five CWP marchers were killed. They were: Sandy Smith, a nurse and civil rights activist; Dr. James Waller, president of a local textile workers union who gave up his medical practice to defend workers; Bill Sampson, a Harvard University graduate in the school of divinity; Cesar Cause, an immigrant from Cuba who graduated magna cum laude from Duke University; and Dr. Michael Nathan, chief of pediatrics at Lincoln Community Health Center in Durham, NC, a clinic that helped children from low-income families. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greensboro_massacre

How do I get permission to show a movie on a closed ciruit TV channel in a retirement community? I work for a retirement community that has it's own closed circuit TV channel. We show daily information and other taped programs that go on in the community. I really would like to start showing old movies and informational shows but do not want to break any copyright laws or pay an insane amount of money for the rights to show that sort of programming. Is there any way to get around it and not pay much money? We are a non-profit facility with about 800 residents many who are in health care center and have touble getting out of bed I just thought this would be a nice treat for them to be able to see their favoirte movies from when they were young. Can anyone lead me in the right direction?
Mental problems being created to sell drugs? Do you think that the psychiatric community ie psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health centers along with the drug companies are "creating" new mental problems in order to sell more psych drugs ie "PAXIL for SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER" along with their television commercials about these psych meds?
Anybody know wat Sammy and Sarah disorder? Sarah, a 20 year-old Chinese female, sought help from Agency X (a community mental health center) because of her concern for her 3-year-old child, Sammy. According to Sarah, there is “something wrong” with Sammy, but she does not know what it was. Sammy is the oldest of two in the family. Unlike his younger brother (Tommy, 8 months old) who was said to be “normal”, Sammy was unresponsive to the people around him. Currently, he is still not talking and not toilet-trained. On the other hand, Sammy’s dad did not think there is any problem with Sammy, because he himself was not talking or toilet-trained until he was 5 years old. Sarah also noted that the only time Sammy would seek her out is when he wants something from her. However, his way of gesturing is by pulling and grabbing her hands to reach for the thing that he wants. He doesn’t make sounds and avoid eye contact. When he couldn’t get his way, he would scream and “go crazy,” until Sarah gives in to him. Currently, Sarah is living with Chandran, a 30-year-old Indian man, who is the father of both Sammy and Tommy. Although not legally married, they have lived together for the last two years, since Sarah’s grandmother passed away. Sarah said that she loves her grandmother as her own mother. In fact, she claimed to still see her deceased grandmother coming back to visit her whenever she feels down and lonely. Sarah has vague memory of her biological parents, who had apparently left her with her grandmother when she was 4. The only thing that Sarah remembered was that her dad used to drink a lot and beat up her mother. Sarah and Chandran, with their two kids, currently live in a rented low-cost apartment. She said that they could only afford one bed and the whole family sleeps together. Although periodically the local gang members would extort money from Sarah, she generally feels happy where she is living because her neighbors often help her take care of her children. Although Sarah adores her children, she gets very stressed out whenever her children cry, because she doesn’t know what to do with them. She also needs frequent reminders to feed and change their diapers. When the caseworker visited her home, it was found that there were dirty diapers and garbage everywhere. Sarah said that she just did not have the time to clean them. Sarah stopped schooling around the age of 12. She said that she tried her best in school, but often failed most of her subjects. Currently unemployed, she reported some past experiences of working as a salesgirl, but was never able to keep a job for more than a few months. In all her jobs, Sarah often got teased as being “slow.” Sarah said that she hopes to become a policewoman one day, but has no idea how to do so. In terms of her health, Sarah has a history of epileptic seizures since childhood, which recurs whenever she is under stress. Relating to that, Sarah admitted not being regular with her medications. It was apparent that there were some bruises on Sarah’s body. Sarah confessed that her boyfriend, Chandran, sometimes beat her up when he became drunk. This happened almost every other night. According to Sarah, Chandran has been drinking more and more lately and she is becoming more fearful of him. Nevertheless, Sarah insists that Chandran loves her dearly and believes that he will get better somehow. Currently, Chandran has not been able to find a job because of his drinking problem, although he blames it on his prison record for gang fighting several years ago. Sarah said that she is a Christian, because she believes in God. She used to follow her grandmother to a nearby church because “the people there are very nice to me.” Now, she follows her boyfriend to the Hindu temple, because she knows this pleases him. Furthermore, she gets to learn some Tamil words and Indian custom, which helps her blend in with her neighbors who are primarily Tamil-speaking Indians. In her day-to-day communication, she tends to use a mixture of colloquial English and Malay languages. Although she is generally a chatty person, Sarah finds it hard to express herself clearly sometimes. Following her neighbors’ suggestion that perhaps Sammy has been disturbed by some “dirty spirits,” Sarah has brought Sammy to various local mediums and bomoh (traditional healers), but to no avail. Instead, he is beginning to display more tantrums and even self-harming behaviors (e.g, banging his head repeatedly on the wall), whenever he could not get his way. Because Chandran is out of the house most of the time, Sarah feels very helpless with Sammy’s behaviors.
Does the Health Dept. monitor Community Acquired MR SA Infections from jail and pre sentencing holding cells? A woman burst into my apartment, started to scream rape, had me arrested, came back and broke into my apartment ,robed me of some of my wifes jewelry. While I was in jail I noticed blood and urine in the cell with no water coming out of the sink, and no toilet paper. When it came time to return my blanket ,I was told to go to a room where a gard was fully dressed with rubber gloves and rubber tape around her neck. The guard then sprayed something toward me and I felt something like a BEE STING on my hand. The NEXT DAY I was hospitalized with the super bug flesh eating MRSA virus.Has any one heard of this type of occurence in other cityes besides the tourist center that I live in.Not to delineate the laws that allow women to get away with stunts like this, but in the scope of unreasonable punisment and malishus cruelty. Is this really a national problem?I reasearched MRSA and you can make it at home and get dust mites to infect on command with increased humidity and the stafococcal ariolus to g

Deinstitutionalization -The original idea behind the deinstitutionalization movement was to treat patients in? the least restrictive manner possible, preferably where patients could have as much contact with the outside world as possible. In practice, the deinstitutionalization movement a.Failed and we have seen the “re-institutionalization” movement place more people in mental hospitals than ever before b.Became a way for the government to save money c.Caused the creation of large numbers of group homes and community mental-health centers, as the movement always intended d.Became irrelevant due to the discovery of effective medications and the overall decrease in the incidence of mental health problems in this country Today, few patients stay very long in mental hospitals. However, many states have released patients from mental hospitals without providing adequate community mental health facilities. Much of the decrease in population of the mental hospitals was due to re-institutionalization, as elderly people moved from mental hospitals to nursing homes. Is C. or D? Please help!
Are there any Job Corps Centers that offer a RN or LPN program on campus? I have just completed CNA, Restorative Aide, Level 1 Med Aide and Behavioral Health Tech, and would like to continue further. The campus that I am at only offers LPN or RN through a community college which is a learning atmosphere I don't really like. Basically, I could transfer to anywhere in the country to do RN or LPN on campus through Job Corps.
Is the YMCA still religious? I know when it was founded 150 years or so ago it was very much based on Christianity (hence the C in the name) but these days, it seems like moslty a health club/community center thing. Has their official charter moved away from the religious aspects?
