Can the 5 basic components of information systems be applied to health information systems? Can the 5 basic components- hardware, software, data, procedure, and people- be applied to health information systems? I have to write a short response on it, but I can't find anything related to the 5 components to health information systems. Brian- LMFAO! yes it is, it's his final and I wanted to make sure I was going in the right direction. If you have any information on the "data and the databases that can potentially be used for generating Business Intelligence", that'd be great too. lol :)
What is one of the worst problems with our major health systems today in the United States? I think one is where insurance companies leave people out when they have too many medical problems. If you had a better idea for the system what would you do? People with high blood pressure need to see the doctor. Young people get this too, I did. I didn't say anything about National Health care. I read where most new medicines today are not tested about whether they are better than cheaper and older meds. Many older cheaper medicines still work fine.
Do you think under the European and Canadian health systems the waits are too long? Let's do this experiment: Go to the doctor of your choice, choice is important for you right? When you get there tell them you want to be screened for cancer. When they ask you about your insurance, tell them you have none. When they tell you how much it's going to cost, tell them you can't pay. Please let me know how long until you get your appointment. This is what 50 million Americans face and yet some say nobody is denied care and there are no waitlines...
The proposed health reform doesn't resemble the systems in Canada or the UK. Why the continuous comparison? Canada's system is single payer. The UK's system is where the National Health Service employs the doctors. Neither of these types of systems are being considered in the US. But, those seem to be the only two countries whose systems are ever mentioned. Nobody ever compares them to the systems in the Netherlands or Switzerland which are much more similar to what the US is proposing. That is, using private insurers, but requiring all people to have insurance, and requiring all insurers to take anyone who applies. Plus, providing financial assistance to people who can't afford insurance. For some reason, they're stuck on comparing reform to Canada and the UK.

Respiratory system: All the cells in your body require oxygen. The number of cells depends on volume, but the amount of oxygen processed by your respiratory system depends on the surface area of your lungs. Skeletal system: Your mass depends on volume, but he strength of your bones depends on area of their cross-section. what health problems are implied for one or more of the categories?
Which is the bigger issue - poor health systems or drug prices? Some people argue that prevention is more important in fighting HIV/AIDS in the long run, such as programs that will educate the population and that poor health systems is the main problem. Others argue that the drug pricing issue must be dealt with first because people all over the world, especially in Africa need urgent care now.

Welfare systems, health policies, and social services......? Although students and professionals often overlook it, public policies and the legal system have a huge impact on child development. Think about the welfare system, health policies, and social services. Talk about existing laws/policies that strikes you as really important. Or, think about legislation that needs to exist (that doesn't) and it's potential impact on child development.

Is there a health system besides yoga that promotes lean muscle and flexibility? I'm basically trying to find something to break the monotony of going to the gym that leads to better flexibility and still has excellent health and muscle benefits -- any kind of activity. Yoga I know bores me to utter tears (yes, all kinds, please don't suggest one type or another). I'd done martial arts for years and years, but it's not really what I'm looking for, with the emphasis being on handling confrontation rather than health. I'm open to any sport, action, system, book, you name it!

I notice many of my fellow Americans admit there are problems with the US health care system-but they go on to add that the health care system in the US is 'superior' to all other health care systems on earth. Whaaat? I don't have health care-neither do 90% of my friends- I can't afford it- how is that superior to what they have in parts of Europe, where most citizens have coverage?
