Genesis Health Systems

Can any Canadians or Europeans tell me about their universal health care systems?

Is it really bad? Do you guys have long lines? Do you guys have poor treatment? Please no trolls.

  1. If i get my dentures knocked out in a hockey dust up, I can count on the denturist that knocked them out to replace them, eventually, eh.
  2. Im from Cuba. and no, its actually pretty good, just walk in, sign papers and go. You guys cant even get treated unless hospitals know ''how the bill will be paid first''.Even if u are bleeding to death.its pretty good sometimes i go weekly just to feel better and know im healthy without worrying about rates increasing.
  3. They must be waiting in lines somewhere. I have lived in Europe for over 15 years total. Not all at once. I still had my American insurance luckily. My friends were not so fortunate. One thing is that they have much more concern for their health than we do. They don't take it for granted. Not everyone of course, but many try to lead healthy lifestyles to cut down on illnesses. But when one strikes, it can be daunting. I have one friend who is still waiting after 2 years to see a neurologist for neuropathy. He is unable to start any treatment for it and so it progresses. He's trying to find a way to the states in order to get treatment but that's expensive. On the flip side, I went to take my driver's license test in Germany and found my left eye was blurry. I went immediately to an eye doctor. He had laser equipment that isn't available in the states yet. Not the same kind we have. He was able to fix my retina in 20 minutes and it's still fine. Of course again, I had my American insurance and I got right in. Germans are not that fortunate at times. In the waiting room, others told me they had waited 6 months to get in to see him. And they did have to pay some out of pocket expenses because some procedures are not covered under their health plans. They are also more progressive with natural treatments. Farther advanced in that field than we are. They have to be because there is little money for research.
  4. when i lived in the uk i got free everything including prescriptions which was good but if i wanted a doctors appointment on the same day i had to ring first thing in the morning so that was a bit annoying. i now live in australia and get free health care. i have to pay for prescritions now but its all heavily subsidized so is still cheap. doctors and hospital is free. i injured myself at work. had to have surgery. was in hospital for 3 days. had a bed the whole time. got plenty of food whilst i was there. received great care basically. i have no complaints and dont know anyone who does either
