Genesis Health Systems

Why not have two health care systems? A single payer system for the ordinary American and private insurance?

for the wealthy? We will give you one chance to buy into the system but only one. If after that if you run out of money we will have to treat you the same as the current system has treated us. We will deny you coverage for any pre-existing and let you die a slow and horrible death if you can't pay.

  1. Great idea!!
  2. Because the wealthy are the ones paying for the system. They are gonna pay for both themselves and for the poor. Without them, the system can not exist.
  3. There are many options to explore before it will become reality.
  4. only in america thank fuque i'm scottish
  5. That would be good, we already have that in parts of America. In Chile and Argentina but it doesn't always work very well for several reasons. If we were to do that in richer American nations I'm certain we will be able to sidestep their shortcomings.
  6. Liberals first have to stick to a definition of "wealthy". What's that? Got a good job because you worked your way through college and studied hard? Wealthy! You need the "wealthy" to pay for your socialist programs. Who's going to pay for it? The bottom 50% of wage earners that pay only 3% of the taxes??? LOL. Have fun waiting for 6 months for that MRI. Hope it's not cancer when they finally do it.
  7. Nope - everybody gets to pay the bill for healthcare - nobody opts out. However - if a person wanted to maintain "health" insurance after we get socialized medicine - so much the better. Mosty, the rich are going to have to start paying taxes again. I've always wondered whether the delusional right wingers realize that they're paying taxes because the big rich banks, like Chase, pay NO TAX at all? Chase has been actively cheating on their taxes for years - and I assume many of the other banks are doing the same thing.
  8. According to the White House health care web page: "On health care reform, the American people are too often offered two extremes -- government-run health care with higher taxes or letting the insurance companies operate without rules. President Obama and Vice President Biden believe both of these extremes are wrong." The White House website further states: The Obama-Biden plan provides affordable, accessible health care for all Americans, builds on the existing health care system, and uses existing providers, doctors, and plans. Under the Obama-Biden plan, patients will be able to make health care decisions with their doctors, instead of being blocked by insurance company bureaucrats. Under the plan, if you like your current health insurance, nothing changes, except your costs will go down by as much as $2,500 per year. If you don't have health insurance, you will have a choice of new, affordable health insurance options. Further, one of the "eight principles" for the health care reform plan put forward in Obama's budget outline is "Guarantee Choice," about which the outline states: "The plan should provide Americans a choice of health plans and physicians. They should have the option of keeping their employer-based health plan."
  9. yeah, thats what ive been saying. People seem to think it HAS to be one or the other.
  10. Because it will still be unfair. Why not have one of the many systems used abroad by nations that provide healthcare to all? FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet. FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage. That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage.
