Genesis Health Systems

If the stimulus package improves our education and health care system will this undermine capitalism?

Milton Friedman says that "the world runs on individual pursuing their separate interests." According to him, "great achievements have not come from government" but from capitalism. Could he be wrong if Obama's plan improved our country's health and welfare? What if we lead the world in having the best education and health system?

  2. It would appear not, how could a healthy educated population be a threat to capitalism. But looking at the scenario form the capitalists viewpoint. An educated population never remains silent, the workers would demand good pay, vacations, pensions, etc. A healthy population would be long lived and that pension would be paid for decades. Depends on which side of the barricade you are on. signed-just a gadfly.
  3. well...my personal opinion is that the best and most effective form of government is a mix of the best parts of every government. Take the rights of the people to vote and make money etc from our gov...but the universal healthcare etc like canada has and some of the other things that work from other governments and form a new system over all instead of trying to fix the one we have....also just go ahead and legalize drugs and make money off of the taxes....same as alcohol. Make drug education a bigger part of school and set regulations for selling/buying etc. It could work. But there's to many far right people who think that it would make the problem worse...that's a whole nother can of worms though....-
