are you so surprized when all the mental health clinics do is dope you up?
psychiatry is a joke, just dope em up and send em home right? take two prozac and call me in the morning? for the amount of services they provide they could do just as well with a trailer on a vacant lot! instead of the fancy buildings YOUR taxes pay for!

- hear, hear! nothing but subjugation is what it is...
- Most psychiatrists require you to also get an accompanying therapist. But you know what? Most people are jsut loking for an easy fix to a problem that has ben ingrained into their head for months, or even years. Most people can't take the fact that it may take them years to get rid of a mental ailment through therapy and assume they will get it by taking meds. It's not all the psychiatrist's fault.
- My psychiatrist is great. She's saved my life. She listens about med responses and reactions. She does not expect me to take something that makes me ill. She does not want me to take more than the minimum that I need. My therapist is equally great, too. There is no joke to any of this. Doctors/general practitioners, do tend to hand out antidepressants a little too fast IMHO. Therapy can be a much more effective first line treatment for most situational depression. My suggestion... work with the system, not against it. If you are not a responsible part of your 'treatment team', you decided to be at the mercy of others and should not complain. ~Bipolar, managing it and living a normal life.
- Most of the people who are on medication also seek therapy, and not all mental clinics just "hand out" meds, they do analying the patient first and make sure the med they put them on is right for them. You sound just like my fiancee, lol. He is so against people on antidepressants. I do think alot of people take advantage though. I understand where you are coming from. For instance a friend of mine actually go's to different doctors to get different prescritions and fills them at different pharmacies and sells them. I hope this info helped you.
- It sounds like you had a bad experience with the mental health clinics. Did they dope you up and send you home? Did they tell you to take two Prozac and call them in the morning. I am sorry to hear that this is your interpretation. I hope if you need help, you will have a more positive experience in the future. Best Wishes
